Dok Kra Jiao (ดอกกระเจียว)

Known as the Siam tulip (Curcuma alismatifolia) this plant is actually a member of the Zingiberaceae (which includes Gingers). This particular plant flowers in July during the rainy season in Thailand. The location of the photograph is the Pa Hin Ngam National Park. In the photograph a beetle from the genus Mylabris is enjoyng a pollen grain meal.
